    Costco Expansion

InterStratics is monitoring ongoing events relating to the Costco Canadian expansion program and will provide "as is" updates based on publicly disclosed information.

InterStratics Consultants Inc. is not affiliated with the Costco or its Canadian development team.

Costco announced on June 4th 2013 at the Retail Council of Canada's Store 2013 conference that they will be opening 25 new locations across Canada with a goal to get to 110 stores.  - Financial Post

    POTENTIAL New Costco Sites

    Where will these locations be?

They have not been announced, but, we have prepared a preliminary analysis based on the population totals that are not within 10km of the current Costco portfolio. Some of these locations (Guelph) are already under construction. Others are candidates for potential locations.

Above is a preliminary review of the potential new markets for Costco. Sites were selected based on areas beyond the 10km trade area of current Costco sites. Areas with a high population potential within 20km were highlighted as potential new sites. This analysis, prepared by Interstratics, does not include additional relevant factors such as income levels.

DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE NOT OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED COSTCO LOCATIONS. THESE ARE POTENTIAL LOCATIONS BASED ON POPULATION LEVELS AND THE COSTCO NETWORK. COSTCO HAS OPENED IN SOME OF THESE LOCATIONS SINCE THIS LIST WAS COMPILED IN 2012.

There have been very, very few franchises that have opened in PEI that have not met or exceeded the national average. Couple that with the fact that there is a captive audience, if you will, by being in PEI. Few people wish to add to the drive, the cost of the bridge toll and the 100 mile (160km) trip to Moncton. Even Eaton's was the only store in Canada to be in the black here on the Island.

Thank God for Costco we have been Ripped Off by the Ontario based companies for years.
the price of chicken cheese and other items are controlled by marketing boards. I will be one of the first to be at the opening in Sydney NS.

I would buy a Costco card if you had a store in Timmins, ON and I am sure most northeners would also!

Why are 14 of the possible costco all in southern ontario. In Orillia really, theres one in Barrie which is 20 minutes away. Bring one to Timmins ON, you would get people of Timmins, Cochrane region, Kapuskasing region, Hearst, Kirlkand Lake, the James Bay communities and Abitibi, QC (Rouyn, LaSarre, Val d'or, Amos). That is close to 150 000 population.

Wish you'd consider putting on in Williams Lake BC
We're almost 3 hours either way to Costco. Very frustrating. Spend only $1000-2000 a year. Would likely spend 3 or four times that amount if Costco was local and didn't have to combine with a family time. Buy less as less room to transport. LOVE the Meat department. Our avg wage is higher than most in Canada and we have a captive audience for you as well. Know it would be a great choice!

We need a Costco in North Bay, we have a catchment area of 110 000 plus population. A North Bay location would thrive.

Not sure how reliable this data is, as Kanata, Ontario already has a Costco.

It would be nice to see one in brandon, mb. 50000 people plus surrounding areas!!!

Timmins ontario should get a costco. We are isolated in the north and many of us drive more than 300 Kms just to go to costco a few times a year. If there were one in timmins, I know I would be there weekly. All of my family goes to costco and it would surely be successful in timmins. You would prosper from all cities and towns from the north (cochrane, foleyet, chapeau, kapuskasing, Hearst, Kirkland lake, englehart, and probably rouyn Noranda too)!

Looking at the expansion list. It is noted Bathurst, NS. Do you not mean NB as there is no Bathurst, NS. Please clarify this misprint. Thank you

We definitely need a Costco here in Bathurst NB! I am sure people from the Acadian Penninsula , Dalhousie and surrounding areas, Campbellton and surrounding areas, even Point a la Croix would come and shop here! It sure would be a big boost to the Northern part of the province!

Would be awesome to have a COSTCO in Sydney, Nova Scotia as we have to drive 5 hours to get to the nearest one in Halifax . Please come to our city of SYDNEY !!!!
    March 24, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermarie
Sydney Nova Scotia would be very grateful to have a COSTCO.You have to drive to Halifax or Moncton to shop at COSTCO.I really think with one in Sydney all of Eastern Nova Scotia would support it!!

Where in the hell is Fort McMurray on this list??????????? The Mac needs one before Sydney, NS does......AND I'M FROM SYDNEY!!!!!!! Traveling to Halifax is much safer via the divided highways than driving to Edmonton on the notorious HWY's 63 & 881. It would also be a place you wouldn't be able to get near for about 3 years until the fever pitch of a Costco in the Mac died down. Greater demand and definitely the greater ability to support it here. Regardless, I'd love to see one in Sydney as well because they need anything and everything to help it out.

I was considering letting my Costco membership go because we have to drive hours to get to one.
However if one opens in Sydney I will keep it...so will thousands of others
    Costco in Sydney Nova Scotia!!!!!

    Bring it to Sydney!!!!!!!!
    March 24, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJayne
A lot of people would get a membership if Costco opened in Sydney.Like stated earlier it's a 4-5 hour drive to Halifax & people just don't like the travel!!
    March 24, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCole
This would truly make the people of Sydney, NS so happy. We all have to travel to Halifax and spend our money there. Why not we keep our money in our own town. Please consider bringing Costco to Sydney, NS.
    March 24, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterNicole
Sydney NS is a must, there is a huge demand for costco here and I and many many others will have a membership and shop there often.
    March 24, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterWayne
I believe bringing a Costco to Sydney would be beneficial to everyone involved. Travelling for 5 hours to go there is tough. Would be there all the time if we had one here. Please bring it to Sydney
