    Costco Expansion

InterStratics is monitoring ongoing events relating to the Costco Canadian expansion program and will provide "as is" updates based on publicly disclosed information.

InterStratics Consultants Inc. is not affiliated with the Costco or its Canadian development team.

Costco announced on June 4th 2013 at the Retail Council of Canada's Store 2013 conference that they will be opening 25 new locations across Canada with a goal to get to 110 stores.  - Financial Post

    POTENTIAL New Costco Sites

    Where will these locations be?

They have not been announced, but, we have prepared a preliminary analysis based on the population totals that are not within 10km of the current Costco portfolio. Some of these locations (Guelph) are already under construction. Others are candidates for potential locations.

Above is a preliminary review of the potential new markets for Costco. Sites were selected based on areas beyond the 10km trade area of current Costco sites. Areas with a high population potential within 20km were highlighted as potential new sites. This analysis, prepared by Interstratics, does not include additional relevant factors such as income levels.

DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE NOT OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED COSTCO LOCATIONS. THESE ARE POTENTIAL LOCATIONS BASED ON POPULATION LEVELS AND THE COSTCO NETWORK. COSTCO HAS OPENED IN SOME OF THESE LOCATIONS SINCE THIS LIST WAS COMPILED IN 2012.

Yeah would love to see one in Sydney too since i live there. But how many times a year do you think you would go there given the LARGE quantities of everything in the store? (and you'd prob put No Frills out of business) Toilet paper last for months!! Don't know whether the income level is there for a Costco to survive. But maybe. Fort McMurray DEFINITELY could use a Costco. The income level up there is totally amazing and lots of people to support it. Would do really great!!

I would renew my Costco membership in a heart beat if Costco came to Sydney NS. I don't see the savings in getting a membership then having to drive 5hours for 2/3 trips a year, if it was in Sydney I would use it all the time.

Would love to see one in Sydney. All of Cape Breton would shop at it, as the nearest one is in Halifax. Based on the percentage of comments referencing Sydney, I'm not the only one who believes that.

While I admire all the enthusiasm in Costco opening new locations in all your home towns, I would like to remind you that we are not affiliated with Costco. If you have any inquiries or would like to make any requests in regards to opening locations, I would direct you to contact Costco directly.

Thank you for your time, and sorry for the misunderstanding.

Having a costco in Sydney would be great! Having to drive 5 hrs just to get to one is crazy! I have been thinking of letting my membership go because of this, however if there is one coming to Sydney I would keep it! Let's see SYDNEY N.S get one!!!

Please come to Western Newfoundland. Having to drive 7 hours to St. John's to go to Costco is financially not happening for me. But to have one on the West Coast would be a blessing. Had a card for over 10 years, but only get to use it once a year these days. Would definitely be a lot closer to weekly or monthly if there was one here.

Wanting a Costco here on PEI badly. Much needed. Have a card now, not used much because it costs us $45. just to get to the mainland. This could buy a lot of Costco cards!! :)

We have the population base to support Costco here in the Sydney area, & definitely have the need. Wish Costco was here years ago.

Would love to have a Costco in Sydney NS.....People travel 5 hours to shop in Halifax/ Dartmouth area. They have products that other companies don't get...

I would love to have a Costco in Sydney, we would not have to go to Halifax anymore to get to one. Please bring one here, you will not be disappointed at the amount of business you would get. We need more big box stores like yours in Sydney. It would also help our economy here. PLEASE COME TO SYDNEY!!!!

DEFINITELY need one in Sydney. Too far to travel to Halifax/Dartmouth. Many people are asking "when is Costco coming here".

Lived in Ontario for years and had a membership for Costco (as far back as Price Club days). Unfortunately I let my membership expire when I returned to CB as only made trip to Halifax once or twice per year and it wasn't worth it. I'd definitely be interested in seeing Costco come to Sydney, NS!!

As I have already stressed to a costco rep. We in PEI need a costco. I have been a member for years and spend over 1500 per year at Costco. If i didn't have to spend so much on the bridge crossing then I would have even more money to spend in the store. Please bring Costco to PEI.

I will sign up ASAP if one comes to Sydney, Nova Scotia. I love COSTCO, but a 5 hour drive to Halifax only brings me there once or twice a year. Sydney needs and wants a COSTCO!

Love Costco, would love to have one in Sydney, They cant go wrong

Would love to have Costco in Sydney, NS. Many, many people travel to Halifax all year round to shop at Costco but there are many people who will not travel 5 hours and do not want to pay the cost of gas, hotel and meals to shop. I feel the whole of Cape Breton Island would benefit if we had one here. Please bring Costco to Sydney.
    March 24, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterBev
I've been a Costco member since it opened in Halifax under the name of Price Club. I would benefit much more from my membership fees if I was able to use it whenever I needed, which would probably be weekly as opposed to maybe 5 times a year. A store in Sydney, NS would provide service to our entire island. Sydney needs to be chosen.

SYDNEY, NOVA SCOTIA - that would be a great place for COSTCO to do business. We have had a card for years but can only make the 5 hour trip to Halifax once a year. Sometimes it's hardly worthwhile to keep my membership. BUT, with a COSTCO right here in Sydney, I'd be able to get there on a regular basis. We love the COSTCO products, it would bring much needed employment to the area, and all of Cape Breton and lots of the mainland people close to Cape Breton would be shopping here ! It would be a huge success! Hoping it gets here soon !
